The news that Sunseeker International has produced so many talented graduates despite the pandemic is to be welcomed by everyone in the industry and highlights how successful apprenticeships can be, particularly in a highly-faceted industry like marine.
This week, Sunseeker International is celebrating the graduation of the latest group of apprentices and graduates. The management team presented 21 successful individuals with their certificates, having completed either the company’s award-winning apprenticeship scheme or its brand-new graduate scheme. The Sunseeker Apprenticeship Programme launched in 1979 and has supported many apprentices with multiple learning pathways, including carpentry, composites, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and IT. The apprenticeship is taught over three or four years at Bournemouth and Poole College’s Marine Technology Centre, alongside on-the-job training at the Sunseeker shipyards in Poole and Portland. The vast majority of apprentices go on to remain with the company and progress their careers including senior leadership roles. Sunseeker International’s successful apprenticeship scheme has led to the recent introduction of the ‘Sunseeker Graduate Programme’.
